  • EVLT is a minimally invasive laser procedure used to treat varicose veins by sealing off faulty veins from the inside. A thin laser fiber is inserted into the vein, delivering thermal energy to close it and reroute blood to healthy veins. This treatment provides fast relief from leg pain, swelling, and visible vein bulging with minimal downtime.

  • Seal varicose veins from within using targeted laser energy for symptom relief.

  • Legs (commonly for the great or small saphenous veins and visible varicosities).

EVLT

EVLT uses targeted laser energy to seal varicose veins from within.

Pre-Treatment

Avoid NSAIDs and blood thinners for 5–7 days before the procedure. Wear loose clothing and arrange post-treatment transportation. Stay well-hydrated and disclose any medications or clotting history. Do not apply lotions or creams to the legs before treatment.

Post-Treatment

Wear compression stockings daily for at least one to two weeks. Walk regularly to encourage healing and circulation. Avoid strenuous exercise and hot environments like saunas for several days. Follow all aftercare instructions provided by your specialist.

What to Expect

  • EVLT may cause mild soreness, tightness, or bruising along the treated vein. A pulling sensation may be felt as the vein seals. These effects are normal and usually resolve within a few days.

  • EVLT effectively eliminates treated varicose veins and reduces associated symptoms like swelling, cramping, and aching. Results are often visible within a few weeks and improve as the body absorbs the closed vein. Most patients return to normal activities quickly with lasting relief.

  • You’ll likely return in 1–2 weeks for an ultrasound to confirm vein closure. Additional treatments may be scheduled depending on the extent of venous disease. Your provider will develop a personalized plan based on your goals and response.

  • EVLT is not recommended during pregnancy and is usually deferred until postpartum. Your provider can help you explore safe options until then.

  • EVLT causes mild discomfort, usually limited to the local anesthetic injection. The laser itself is not painful, and most patients tolerate the procedure well.
